I'm afraid I can't tell you much about this bridge, other than that it's somewhere in Switzerland.
The year was 2004, we were on our way through Europe to the French Riviera. This was before we had a proper camper van, and we drove an ordinary van, furnished with a fold out sofa-bed and a bookshelf. We spent one night at the camp site on the other side of the river.
During the night the most amazing rain and thunderstorm swept through the narrow valley, and the thunder echoed off of the tall mountains on both sides. The van was not insulated, and the rain was hammering so hard on the roof, I had to dig out earplugs in order to go to sleep.
As you can see, the next day the sky cleared up and the sun came out.
This is the kind of experience that sticks with you as a fond memory! :-)

Beautiful pictures, lovely roofed wooden bridge reminds me of the bridges of Madison.
The bridge is sturdy and, no doubt, ready to handle a heavy snowfall.

What a beautiful wooden covered bridge! I'm sure you have seen the movie "The Bridges of Madison County" or read the book by Robert James Waller (if you haven't, you should). Madison county (in Iowa) originally had 19 covered bridges but just 6 remain today, all of which are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Something so quaint and charming about them. Sounds like you had a "night to remember"! Have a great week. Mickie ;)

This is on open air covered bridge. We only have one left in this area and it is totally enclosed. I think this spot where you all stopped in your van is heavenly. What a great way to travel throughout Europe. I would love to take such a trip. Your shots are just wonderful. The images ar eloping right off of my screen. genie
It IS the wonderful kind of experience that sticks with you. (I try to remember that when we have something weird happen to us as we travel.)
