Scenic Sunday

After a day of torrential, cold, sideways rain I needed to look at something completely different. So I dreamt myself back to this beach just outside of the small fishing village Itacaré in Brazil.

Shadow Shot Sunday #158

This Saturday evening we attended evening song at the Utstein Monastery church, in Norway's best preserved monastery from the Middle Ages, located 30 minutes from Stavanger. On our way there, rain was pouring down, but during the service it cleared up, the sun came out, and made this lovely pattern on the old stone wall.

Visit Hey Harriet for more shadow shots.

oftograf #21: Levende: Liv / Alive: Life

Alive!

I have been watching this little baby sparrow on our deck today. He's just so cute, and so hungry! He kept hopping and flying after his mom, and most of the time she would just fly away from him. Then he would approach other adults as if to see if they would feed him. But now and then she would take pity on him and feed him. I imagine she's trying to get him to find his own food now that he's out in the world. He obviously needs to learn how to keep himself alive. I felt so privileged, grateful and humble to be able to watch this adorable scene through the window.

World Bird Wednesday XXVII

A DAY WITH THE GULLS NEXT DOOR....

This is the life, isn't it? Just you and me here in the sunshine...

Do you really have to go to work? You're never home any more!

But you keep telling me to bring home some bread!

You'd better come straight home after work then!

Yeah, yeah, and now I'm gonna be late!

Hey ho, hey ho, off to work we go, ehhh, fly!

Clocked in and let's get this show on the road...

Tower to incoming, tower to incoming!
Keep circling, we're working on clearing
a runway for you!

Later: Hey, can I join you guys for a quick drink?

Much later: Honey, I'm home!

I knew it! You did have a drink with your mates!
And, you forgot the bread!
Sorry honey....

Me too; I'm really just glad you're home safe!

Guest Heart Thursday #57

My lovely new bird feeder is a heart!

An ice cream heart inside a popsicle.

Last Friday was the finale of the Eurovision Song Contest,
and this heart was their logo, and on TV all the time.

As we drove into Bergen Sunday evening,
this heart was on the wall of a shopping mall.

Wednesday evening sunset,
and there's a glowing sun heart among the trees.

Visit Clytie at Random Hearts for more heart warming photos.

Signs, Signs #20

I lost all my Wednesday and Thursday posts last week, and their comments, and of course among them was the Signs post. Blogger never retrieved any of them for me :-(

I will repost last week's sign later, but this week I decided is the perfect time to post my little collection of Australian animal road signs.

And why is it perfect?

Because on July 11th. Sigve and I will have been married for 30 years, and this weekend he revealed to me what my 30th anniversary present is going to be:

a trip to Australia, to visit dear friends,
for nearly 4 weeks, leaving on June 26th!

Unfortunately Sigve cannot travel yet, as his immune system is still not strong enough after his stem cell transplant last August, but he knows how much I love to travel, and he knows how exhausted I am feeling these days, so he's giving me this break on my own. Isn't he just a dear?

(If you like, you can read all about our journey through his leukemia on my other blog, Journey to life.)

We both visited Australia in March 2008, and that's when I collected these signs. They are very exotic to us northerners :-)

Visit Lesley for more signs.
