I live on an island on the west coast of Norway. In order to get anywhere we depend on bridges, tunnels and ferries. Until 2001 our only option for getting off the island at all was the ferry.
Then in April 2001 a triangular traffic system of 2 big bridges (and 1 smaller), and a sub sea tunnel, was opened, and we could almost stop living by ferry schedules.
We can get off our island ferry free now, and even continue across the country to Oslo, but to continue along the coast north to Bergen or south to Stavanger, there are still half hour ferry rides to be caught.

Spectacular views Inger. I had the pleasure of visiting your stunning country many years ago and it's beauty is breathtaking (not just from the cold temperatures either!). Kinsarvick and the Hardanger Fjord stand out in my memory especially. Thanks for sharing.

You gave us a great overview here of where you live Inger! Bridges and ferries are pretty to most of us and pretty darn important as well to you. There are a few places in the US on Islands -- we always love to visit them, they are such special places.
Wow that is a beautiful country with all those islands. How i wish we can have our islands connected properly like that, as our country is also an archipelago. I've passed through that undersea tunnel connecting Copenhagen and Sweden and i thought my amazement was not correlated with the feeling while traversing it, seems just normal.

Your panorama is wonderful. Norway is such a beautiful country. I can't imagine having to live with a ferry schedule, so I'd be happy to have these handsome bridges to cross.
