Mellow Yellow Monday #138, Macro Monday, PicStory and Camera Critters

This is the stuff that nightmares are made of!

A spider, about 1,5 cm, has taken up residence in a web that covers the whole deck door window. I guess I really should brush it away, and clean the window, but the days went by last week, and I never got around to it. So on Friday I noticed that she (I kind of assume it's a she) had caught and cocooned a wasp, and was fiddling around with it.

I kept checking on her progress,
and at first she seemed to go for the jugular.

A little later she had turned him (I assume the wasp is a he) around,
and had sunk her fangs into his side.
She spent the whole day feeding on him.
Sucking him dry.
Nightmares, any-one?

Skywatch Friday, season 5, episode 9, Himmelsk #49 and a Heart

(Norsk versjon etter den engelske delen)

You're at the airport, checked in and security cleared, with time to spare.
Looking out of the window, meeting this view,
you realize that soon you'll be in the air,
and this engine is what will keep you up there.
You say a quiet prayer,
for the plane, the engine, and the flight crew.
You express silent gratitude for this technology that enables you
to get to the other side of the world in a matter of hours.

You're on the plane, hand luggage safely stowed.
Waiting.
Looking out of the window from your chosen window seat.
You relax, and feel the excitement grab you.

You're in the air, looking down on what you usually look up at.
And there, cradled among the other clouds, is a fluffy heart cloud.
Like a promise, that all is well.

You look out, beyond the plane and the wing,
and understand that the sky is not the limit.
There are no limits...

And then, a stop-over, just in time for a lovely bonus sunset.

Guest Heart Thursday #74

While on holiday in our camper van,
my husband and I collected hearts, as usual,
and I have photographed more than 200!
Here are a few of them.

Double cloud hearts.

Double rock hearts.

Potentially very tasty double prawn hearts :-)

A small selection of the heart pebbles we found.

Visit Clytie at Random Hearts for more hearts.

Signs, Signs

While visiting Australia in July, I spent a few days in Forster,
and on the way back to Sydney,
we stopped at this beautiful lighthouse at Seal Rocks.

Of all the signs there, this was my favorite:

It seemed like almost everything was either dangerous
or prohibited, and warnings signs were everywhere.

The beach below the cliffs had it's own set of warnings.

Watery Wednesday #155

One of my most amazing experiences this summer
was going on a whale safari off the coast of northern Norway,
and having close sightings of sperm whales breathing and diving,
right next to the boat.
Truly "National Geographic moments"!

Himmelsk #38 and Skywatch Friday, season 4, episode 47

On the last day of May this year, I drove to the northernmost point of our island, at Brandasund, and caught this beautiful sunset. I love watching the sun sink into the ocean. At this time of the year the sun set in the north west, and it will keep moving north until summer solstice.

Guest Heart Thursday #60

These are pictures from the heart post I lost a few weeks ago when blogger had problems, so a few of you may already have seen them. I decided to post them again though, as I think the heart is amazing.

We visited the Portuguese island Madeira, out in the Atlantic ocean, in January 2009. One day we hiked out to this view point, and had someone there take our picture. I have looked at it lots of times without seeing the heart way out in the background. Only after I started hunting for hearts did I spot it, and of course now it's so obvious it screams at me!

Signs, Signs #22

This is a sign you don't see very often.
It was put up by a closed down road toll station,
just north of Stavanger,
when the road was paid off.

It's quite satisfactory to drive through it
and not have to stop and pay any more.
