Challenge #18: My street

My street.

We live on an island, and our county has approx. 11 000 inhabitants. When we moved here, in 1988, we had to catch a ferry to get to the mainland, but in 2001 we were connected to the rest of the world by a 1 km (0.62 miles) long bridge to the next island, and then an underwater tunnel that's 7,8 km (4,85 miles) long and goes down to 260 meters (853 feet) below sea level.

This is a rural community, and we live right at the end of a small side road. The farm that is our next door neighbor is not actively run any more, but in the spring another farmer usually keeps his sheep in the field to the left.

This is the view from our front door,
and the main road is beyond the upper field.

The same area, looking towards our house.

Some of the old farm buildings are really beautiful.

From above the farm, looking back down the road.

This is the view from the other side of our house, looking across the laketo the church. To the right of the church is our local shopping mall. They're not quite as close as it looks here. The big building to the left is a nursing home for the elderly.

Oh wow! Life on an island connected to the rest of the world by bridges and tunnels. Would be very different! I love the farm buildings with the stone foundation. :)

You live in a truly beautiful area! Were you happy to get the bridge? Or did you think it made it too easy for people to get there? I'd love to live next door to a farm like the one next to you -- lots of area for birds and wildlife, I would guess.

Beautiful! How fun to be able to use the tunnel!!)I'd love it if my neighbor would have sheep in the spring here :)

What a beautiful spot you live in, and how exciting that you live on an island, and have a tunnel.

The shot of the little church and the reflection is gorgeous, is that the same church that was covered in snow this Winter?

It sounds like a beautiful place to live. I live in a rural community that is being swallowed up by the expansion of Toronto. I would prefer that it stay as nice as your community but I'm afraid the city is moving closer.
